Community Oriented Transit Projects

Bayshore Summer Trolley

Each year, over 2 million people visit Sandy Hook peninsula on the Gateway National Reserve along Monmouth County's part of the Jersey Shore. Until recently, almost all of these visitors came by automobile and, after visiting the beach, left area. Yet, as redevelopment along the Bayshore has quickened, and new ferry services have brought visitors into the area, the notion of a Bayshore Summer Shuttle that links the beaches to the restaurants in Highlands and the refurbished Keansburg Amusement Park has evolved into a demonstration project. As part of its services for the Bayshore Office, MBA. Inc. developed a basic schedule and service plan, worked with private sector trolley vendors to obtain two vehicles at short notice for the Summer of 1999 and developed a successful local aid application for the lease costs.
