Economic
Development and Urban Revitalization Projects
Hudson
Street Neighborhood Improvement Program
The City of Hackensack has targeted the Hudson Street
Neighborhood as an area in need of redevelopment. Hudson Street is considered
a "Gateway" Corridor, and now, an even more critical entranceway for
the new County Administration Complex which is situated at the north
end of the roadway. Anticipating increased pedestrian and vehicular
traffic, the City has initiated a number of projects designed to improve
the entire area.
1 - Hudson Street Beautification MBA developed a successful
transportation enhancement application to advance a street-scape along
the Hudson Street corridor.
2 - Facade Improvement Program MBA has applied for community development
funding to initiate a Façade Improvement Program along Hudson Street.
3 - CRA Designation MBA is working with the County of Bergen Community
Development staff to explore designation of Hudson Street as a Community
Redevelopment Area.
4 - NPP Program MBA has prepared and submitted a Neighborhood Preservation
Program (NPP) Application to the Department of Community Affairs for
the Hudson Street Neighborhood.

Main Street Business Improvement District
The formation of a Business Improvement District (BID)
is one of the most effective tools for developing public-private partnerships
in revitalizing communities. MBA, Inc has been retained by the City
of Hackensack to develop a BID for its Main Street corridor. This will
include all the services to implement a BID within a one year time-frame
covering elements such as working with the business community and City

Hackensack/Bayonne Parking Implementation Plan
With
the assistance of NJDOT, Hackensack and Bayonne will begin a one year
process to complete a parking implementation plan that will be used
as a model for other communities dealing with some of the same parking
issues. Both Hackensack and Bayonne are Urban Aid Communities facing
similar challenges in the areas of transpiration and economic development.
Parking is one of the central issues facing these two communities. Both
Bayonne and Hackensack are directly impacted by the two largest state
investments in Rail (HBLRT and Secaucus Transfer), both have redeveloping
commercial districts where parking issues are critical, and both have
sited parking as the number one complaint raised by residents and visitors
alike. Muller Bohlin Associates has developed a scope of work to advance
the parking implementation plan that these cities will complete. MBA
will act as project manager for the effort. The result will be a comprehensive
parking implementation plan that these cities can pursue.
